As a Software Engineer with GS Consulting, you will use deep computer science fundamentals. You will apply discrete mathematics, probability, and advanced algorithms to analyze, design, and validate complex software systems. If you care about logic, computation, and building mission critical tools that have real operational impact, your capabilities are needed here.
Mission and Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
Our Software Engineers execute across the entire software development life cycle. Depending on your LCAT level, you will be expected to:
- Analyze, design, verify, validate, implement, and maintain complex software systems across multiple domains.
- Apply discrete mathematics, probability, and statistics to solve hard software architecture problems.
- Use deep knowledge of algorithms, computer architecture, and data structures to optimize processing and logic computation.
- Generalize programming techniques and deploy them across mission environments.
- Develop comprehensive documentation, provide technical training, and present briefings and demonstrations to stakeholders.
- For senior levels, provide formal leadership and mentorship for software development teams while improving programming methodologies and languages.
Technical Domains
Required Technical Domains
Successful Software Engineers at GS Consulting must bring authoritative practical experience across the following technical domains:
- Full software development process, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, integration, deployment, and maintenance
- Advanced mathematics, including discrete math, probability, and statistics
- Algorithm design and data structures
- Logic and computation
- Programming methodologies and multiple languages such as Python, C++, Java, and Rust
Preferred Degree Fields
Degrees must be from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology, or Information Systems.
